A little of this, a little of that

My little man Taite is getting all four of his molars in! He and his parents and completely miserable. Fever, crying, drooling and that's just Riley! We were eating dinner in the car the other night and this was the site I saw when we made a stop. That is a half eaten chicken nugget hanging out of his mouth while he is sleeping. Hopefully they will all come soon and give him some relief.

In happier news . . . we went to the live Nativity at Tuachan. Haydn was sooooooo excited to see Santa. As soon as he saw him he took off running. It was so cute. He keeps asking for things that are not under the tree, so I hope we don't have a disappointed little boy come Christmas morning.

*sorry the pictures are crappy one is off my cell phone the other is off of our camcorder. Too bad my camera doesn't fit into my pocket.

This video is a couple weeks old, but it makes me smile and after how tough the last couple days have been we are grateful for something to make us smile.

"Can I live in this house?"

For Family Home Evening we made a gingerbread house. This is the first time we have done this as a family and it was so much fun. Haydn decorated an entire side of the roof before he realized he could eat the candy. Then eating became much more fun than decorating. We all pitched in and turned out this beauty. Haydn kept asking if we could open the door and if he could live there. I guess it would be every kids dream to live in a house made of candy!

Have you heard of Kids Juke Box?

So fun! This site has personalized c.d.'s http://kidsjukeboxinc.com/catalog/music-cds-c-21.html Each c.d. uses your child's first name in each song!

I've been meaning to share this website forever, but have never gotten around to it. Now that it is Christmas it's the perfect time for that gift you didn't think of or for a grandchild, niece or nephew. I got the first c.d. from my grandparents when I had Haydn and he has loved it so much I ordered one for Taite so they could each have their own.

They are even on sale! If you are interested use the online promo code: JQENF3 by December 7 and get 25% off.

Birthday wrap-up

We had such a fun day for Haydn's birthday. I thought since we weren't having a party for him it would be pretty low key, but I was exhasted by the end of the day. We started with breakfast at McDonalds where the boys got to play and eat pancakes and sausage. Then that afternoon we picked up Riley at work and went bowling. This is the first time we have taken the boys bowling and the first time Riley and I have been in years and years. We had a blast. Haydn got his own little 5 pound ball that he didn't want any help pushing down the lane. Taite even took a few turns. With the help of the bumpers I kicked butt and Riley managed to knock down a few more pins than Haydn. After we went home for dinner and presents. Later the cousins came over for Star Wars cupcakes. Haydn got a Storm trooper outfit that he is wearing while blowing out candles. It was a fun day. Thanks to all those that called and wished our big boy a happy day. I know he felt pretty special!

I {heart} etsy

We are doing the 12 days of Christmas at our house this year. Basically a combination of 6 small gifts (game, book, movie, etc) and 6 activities (writing letter to Santa, making and delivering cookies to neighbors) that they open one each day the 12 days before Christmas. Then Christmas day we are keeping really simple. One gift from Santa, one from Mom and Dad and one from brother. The end.

I am super excited about the ornaments I found for the boys this year. I wanted something that felt homemade so I headed to etsy.com. Love that site for all things cute and crafty. I found these adorable owl ornaments and asked the talented designer if she could personalize them for me with the name and year. This is what she came up with. Aren't they cute!! I'm hoping this will be a fun tradition to continue.

Here's to trying to simplify what can be a crazy time of year.

An interview with a three year old

What is today? It's my birthday
How old are you? Five
What do you want to be when you grow up? A Jedi astronaut
What is your favorite movie? Star Wars
What is you favorite t.v. show? Star Wars the Clone Wars
("Mom, I'm totally into Star Wars.")

That was all I could get from him before he caught on and started answering "I don't know" to every question.

To my sweetheart Haydn,

I can't believe you are three today. You are turning into such a big boy. I love how you help mom and dad around the house and play with Taite so nicely. I also love that you like to snuggle with mom almost every night, even if you are just stalling going to bed. You are very smart and love books. We have started reading Harry Potter together and you are an excellent listener. I love your big imagination. You can turn almost anything into something exciting. You are a friend to all the kids in nursery. Your teacher tells me that you like to bring a toy to the kids who are crying to make them feel better. You are so considerate.

This next year should be an exciting one as you continue to grow. I see swimming lessons, Sunbeams and soccer in your future. Then preschool in the fall. You will have lots of new experiences that I know you will enjoy. We love you very much and are so proud of you. Thank you for bringing so much joy into our lives.

Love, Mom and Dad

Oh the birthday boy, the birthday boy!!

Tuesday, Nov. 18th Haydn turns 3!!!! I think birthdays are so special, they are really the only holiday you don't have to share with anyone else. I learned early on from my grandma that they should be celebrated as long as possible! We kicked off the festivities today with 3-year pictures. Isn't he so handsome! We have several fun things planned so stay tuned for his video montage (sorry Colby - I'm his sappy mom) and family bowling night. Should be a fun week. Still can't believe my baby is three! I think I will probably say that statement every year of his life.
