Here We Go!

Riley here - since Erika is still laid up,  I hope you will bear with me as I attempt to fill in.  Our home is sold, and in less than a week we will be in our new place in Scottsdale, AZ.  I don't know if I dare call it our "home" just yet because (a) we don't actually live there and (b) we haven't actually seen it in person.  Give us some time and we'll let you know.  It looks very promising.

As for our final week in the only place our boys have even called home, we have a lot to do.  Luckily, we have been packing in increments to try and get the obvious stuff behind us.  We have also had quite a bit of success selling some of the stuff we don't want to move on Craigslist.  The thing I am most dreading is taking apart the trampoline, but I'm sure there will be other things come up that we haven't even thought of.  One way or another, we will soon be posting from "even sunnier" Arizona.  Here's a preview of coming attractions:

Since I am not as good as Erika on the whole picture arranging thing, I'll try and explain - and you match the explanation to the picture you think best fits (answers will be provided up-side down in really small letters at the bottom of the next post!)

One is of our new place, one is of Riley's new office building, one is of Cardinal's Stadium (where we will hopefully be able to catch a Vikings game), and one is of the McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park which I am sure we will be visiting in the very near future.  Wish us luck!

San Diego

We had such a great trip to San Diego.  It was our first official family vacation.  We met my parents in San Diego, which was so much fun.  Also, helpful to have some extra hands.  The first day we went to Lego Land which was probably my favorite
day.  It is so much fun and the boys loved it!

Highlights were the 3D Bob the Builder movie, rides, Lego Darth Vader, and mini town.  We also went to the San Diego zoo and Coronado Island, but I will have to get to those pictures another time.

Well it has been a long couple of weeks.  I have been so sick.  I'm one of those unlucky ones that throws-up my entire pregnancy.  I keep asking myself why I'm putting myself through it again.  I am grateful that I am able to get pregnant, but getting through it takes a lot out of me.  I don't have any Easter pictures to post because the Saturday before Easter I was getting worse to the point where I couldn't keep liquids down so I ended up in the hospital with an I.V. to get rehydrated.  I was put on a prescription for anti-nausea medication and have since had the dosage doubled.  It doesn't stop me from throwing up 6-8 times a day, but I am able to keep fluids down so that is an improvement.  Riley has been my rock taking care of me and the boys since for several days the only time I got out of bed was to run to the bathroom.  I feel so bad that I am such a burden on him since he has so many other things going on right now, but I am so grateful that he is here for me.

We are getting away for the rest of the week and hopefully everyone will be able to come back refreshed.  We are taking our first family vacation!  Obviously not ideal timing, but this has been planned for a long time and we are excited to take the boys to San Diego to see Lego Land, the SD zoo, and the beach!  My parents are meeting us out there and their extra hands will be greatly appreciated.

Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes!!

I have been avoiding this post like the plague, but the rumor mill has started so it is time to share our news. Really I would like to live in denial a little longer. Anyone of these changes is a big deal so having them all happen at the same time is overwhelming. Here goes:

1) Riley was offered an amazing new position with the firm Ballard Spahr in their their Water and Environmental Law Section.

2) The job is in Phoenix so we are moving!

3) I'm expecting our 3rd baby!!

When it rains it pours! Luckily this is one of those nice summer rains you want to kick your shoes off and run around in. We are completely freaked out about so many things, but we are also excited about what this change could bring for our family. Right now we are taking one day at a time. I tried making a 'to do' list the other day and my hand started cramping before I could finish it.

If anyone lives or knows anyone in the Phoenix area we would love suggestions on good places to live, doctors, preschool, banks, on and on and on!

General Conference

We had a lovely weekend in Salt Lake for General Conference.  The weather was chilly as it typically is for April Conference, but thanks to Colby and Jessica we were able to enjoy a few quiet moments while we attended the Sunday morning session to hear Riley's dad speak.  He did a great job as always.  I really enjoyed the uplifting and encouraging message especially in a time when everyone seems so quick to remind you of all the bad that surrounds us.

The print version hasn't been released yet, but if you missed it you can listen to his talk here:

It's a bird, it's a plane, it's SUPER LAWYER!!

Riley has been named a "Rising Star" by Super Lawyers magazine - a national publication dedicated to creating "a credible, comprehensive and diverse listing of outstanding attorneys." The selection process requires peer nomination, and independent review and verification - it's serious. This is the official press release pro
vided by Super Lawyers:

Riley Snow has been named by Mountain States Super Lawyers magazine as one of the top attorneys in Utah for 2009. Only five percent of the lawyers in the state are named by Super Lawyers. The selections for Super Lawyers are made by Law & Politics, a division of Key Professional Media, Inc. of Minneapolis, Minn. Each year, Law & Politics undertakes a rigorous multi-phase selection process that includes a statewide survey of lawyers, independent evaluation of candidates by Law & Politics’ attorney-led research staff, a peer review of candidates by practice area, and a good-standing and disciplinary check.

We always knew it, but now so will the rest of the world. Congratulations, Riley!!

My new baby!

This has been an ongoing project and goal of mine for some time. I've realized like any renovation it always takes longer than anticipated. I have butterflies in my stomach right now realizing I'm about to share it with the world. It isn't quite perfect, but what ever is?

I would love, LoVe, LOVE if you would all share it with your friends, post it on your blogs, bookmark, add to your reader, however you roll.

Spring!

I am loving the warmer weather and all the blossoms on the trees.  I love Spring in St. George.  I love that it starts in February and by March it is in full swing.  I also love that Spring brings Easter.  It is such a fun holiday and I have looked forward to it so much since having kids.  I have lots of fond memories of Easter's when I was a little girl wearing my Easter dress and looking for my Easter basket with my pink sponge rollers in my hair.  The day usually always consisted of the same events.  Wake up to see if the Easter bunny came, church, and a yummy dinner which always included my favorite cheese potatoes!!

I'm looking forward to coloring eggs with the boys, and Easter egg hunts, but most of all I love the Easter outfit!!

Enjoy!  More to come on erika snow: photography!

So you wonder where we have been?!

I know I am usually a very regular blogger, but there are times in life that blogging takes a back seat.  I think Snow Patrol is on the back seat right now.  Why you ask?  How are you going to continue to get your fill of our adorable children and my witty writing?  Well I'm sure it is not a permanent seat.  More like when you go to Disney World and stand in line at your favorite ride forever just to have the thrill of the wind through your hair for 30 seconds, and just when you think if only I could just stay right where I am in this seat maybe no one will notice me and I can ride again and again you are ejected from your seat to join the masses.  I know I will join the masses once again, but until then let me explain.

About a month ago Riley bought out his partner.  So what was Sanders and Snow became Riley S. Snow, PC.  Which was good for Riley since his partner turned into a complete tool and was dragging us all down, but the buy out put us in the po' house.  So since that time Riley has been working up a storm which leaves an ever growing list of honey do's around the house that seem to occupy the remainder of his free time and our weekends.

I have also been working a lot and redesigning my photography website with a whole new look.  Stay tuned for that.  I promise it will be worth the lack of blog posts.  One of the daunting things about the redesign is I knew I had to include a headshot.  So many people have given me this advice, but being the one that doesn't like to be in front of the camera I have been avoiding it like the plague.  But I understand that you would want to know that there isn't some Marilyn Manson look alike waiting to take your children's pictures.  So I have been broken down and because of the afore mentioned po' house I opted to let Riley have a try at taking a picture of yours truly until I'm skinny enough, my hair is exactly the length and style I want it, I have a fabulous wardrobe, can afford professional hair, make-up and photography so I can work it like Tyra and 'smile with my eyes'!!

Attempt one did not go as well as I had hoped.  This was after a full day of work I came home and changed into what I was hoping would be a fabulous outfit and worked it out for Riley in our backyard.  That would explain the tree stake coming out of my head.  Hmmm, we will try again, but if anyone has any suggestions to make me look fabulous I would love to hear them.
